Mason was an AI-powered SQL editor that enabled fast-moving product teams to collaborate and answer their own questions with data without the need for a centralized data team.
I co-founded Mason together with Anders Berntsson and William Tisäter. In my role as co-founder I designed the product from 0 to 1, among many other things.
The query editor enabled multiple editors to collaborate their way to a correct SQL query in real time. It also featured inline code comments for in-context async collaboration.Mason's real-time dashboards enabled teams to view their most important metrics at a glance.Our first-of-its-kind AI Assistant gave users the ability to generate and edit SQL in plain English.Mason was built to be keyboard-first. With our Command Palette users could navigate the entire app and take actions lightning-fast by only using their keyboard.The shared query library enabled users to quickly find queries created by other members of their team, with the aim to decrease duplicate queries and improve collaboration.
