Tictail
Design & Product
2013 - 2018
Tictail, which was acquired by Shopify in 2018, was a marketplace designed for shoppers to discover emerging brands. For merchants, it offered a fully-featured e-commerce tool.
I joined Tictail in 2013 as its first product designer. In this role I designed several key merchant features, including an app store that allowed merchants to expand their store's functionality, and tools to assist merchants in promoting their products. As the company grew I assumed leadership of our design critiques, as well as managing projects and timelines for my team.
By 2016 I was selected by the Head of Product to join Tictail's inaugural group of product managers, focused on validating and launching features within Tictail's merchant admin.
By the time of Shopify's acquisition of Tictail, I had advanced to Director of Product, where I oversaw product management for both the merchant admin and the consumer-facing marketplace. In this role I led initiatives to harmonize the merchant experience, which began as a store-builder, with the shopper-centric marketplace, as well as directing product for various shopper-centric features, including transforming the marketplace's main page into a personalized shopping feed. Additionally I managed and mentored two product managers.
